CRAZY TENNIS SURFING FROM EUROPE

What do you get when you mix tennis coaches with heaps of beer and a nutty idea? I guess something close to chaos.  European Tennis Camps (in this case Club Aldiana) really go crazy in a frenzy of activity  late in the euro summer.  A mate of mine Jason Young (a Kiwi) Club Coach from Garching Tennis Club in Munich was lucky enough to participate in a German TV show that puts out challenges to anybody crazy enough to try.  Here the idea was to have a bunch of tennis coaches fulfill a challenge. "Wetten Dass" is German for "bet that". A person had to smash a ball so it ricochets across the water in the swimming pool then returned by another coach (with a racket naturally)  to a man (big Jason) standing on a surf board with a racket that had a small net in place of the strings. The bet was to catch 5 balls in 3 minutes.  Well, unofficially the story is that it came down to the dying seconds and Jason coped one below the Plimsoll line knocking him from his "Gerry Lopez" like stance into the drink, game over.  As failures they were forced to throw a serviette over the forearm and act as waiters for the 10 crew who bet against them. Scroll down to see how Jason has moved onto bigger and better things since his ignoble dunking.

Jason and the crew getting the orders. "no pinching, no biting".

I was told the place was full of beer swilling Germans, Sorry!

A picture of concentration. He has the same look when waiting at the bar for a drink.

We nearly had it won Jason, What happened man? Nar, I'm going surfen!

!!!!!YERRRR HAAAA!!!!!
